LONNY ROSEN
Lonny Rosen is a founding partner of the Toronto, Ontario health and regulatory law firm Rosen Sunshine LLP. He has been certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Health Law.
Lonny advises on a wide variety of health and regulatory law issues. His clients include health care professionals, regulators, administrators of health care facilities, professional associations, and individuals. He represents clients in a range of civil and administrative proceedings, including in complaint and discipline matters, investigations, audits and peer reviews, hospital privileges disputes and in hearings before various health tribunals. He also advises professional regulators and serves as independent legal counsel to their Discipline Committees.
In addition to his extensive health and regulatory law experience, Lonny has a strong interest in artificial intelligence and technology. He has advised on legal issues related to AI in healthcare, including data privacy, ethical considerations, and regulatory compliance. Lonny frequently incorporates discussion of the impact of emerging technologies in his writings and presentations, highlighting their potential to transform the healthcare landscape.
From 2012 – 2022, Lonny was a Senior Lawyer Member of the Consent and Capacity Board. He has served as Chair of both the OBA and CBA Health Law Sections and was a Director of The Advocates’ Society. He is a director of the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto. He frequently writes and speaks on health law issues and is an Adjunct Professor of Osgoode Hall Law School, teaching Health Law. In 2016, Lonny was named the inaugural recipient of the OBA Susan Hilary Davidson Memorial Award for Excellence in Health Law.
Lonny is included in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for Life Sciences & Health and Professional Liability. He was named to “Best Lawyers in Canada” for Health Care Law every year since 2014 and since 2020 has been included in Who’s Who Legal as a Global Leader in Health Care Law, as well as in Chambers Canada Guides in Healthcare: Contentious – Nationwide – Canada.
