Paul Byrne is the Executive Director of Regulatory Operations and Support Services at the Irish Medical Council, where he is responsible fora number of key regulatory functions including Registration, Undergraduate & Postgraduate Education, Professional Competence, Performance & Reporting and Liaison & Support Services. Paul has over 19 years of public policy experience with a regulatory focus, previously working in a senior role at CORU, Ireland’s social care regulator. Paul has previously worked in energy regulation with respect to national energy security, regulatory safety frameworks, and regulatory enforcement. Paul is recognized in the global regulatory world for his leadership and unique and groundbreaking perspectives in AI, and is Chair of the Technology and Innovation Task Force, Vice Chair of the Regulatory Agency Administration Committee, and a member of the International Committee of the Council on Licensure, Enforcement, and Regulation (CLEAR). Currently serving as the Council’s President-Elect, Paul is also a mentor in Elevate, CLEAR’s mentorship program.
